Update to gifts from Daddy God

Wish I had kept this up - but a few major updates that I can recall from the year 2012

April - Duane's contract assignment is transitioned to a full time position with full benefits ( ie. we have health insurance again!)
May - diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer.  Thank God we found it so early (because mammogram place called to remind me I missed my appointment last year) and this year I could go because we had insurance !
July-  I had a lumpectomy on my right breast.  They got all the cancer, no lymph nodes infected.
However, it was what they called a triple negative cancer that was quickly multiplying so chemo and radiation is necessary.
August / December -  took 5 months of weekly chemo.  Did very well.  Very few side effects -- except I did loose all my hair!  My God was so good he provided good friends and family who went with me to EVERY session so I had plenty of moral support.

January through February 2013  - I underwent 33 daily radiation treatments.  Did have some rather bad skin burns that were painful but thank God they healed quickly and I am done with all my treatments!

Let the healing begin - I am cancer free

A new year - Like a new Big Chief Tablet

Welcome to 2011. WOW, don't we all like a fresh start.

I remember in grade school how much I loved getting a new Big Chief Tablet. All that fresh paper to write on. I always wanted to just write on one side. I hated it when the teacher wanted us to turn the page over and write on the back of the page. It was never as much fun.

Now that I think about it, God must feel the same way that I did as a child. He says His mercies are new every morning. No crumpled, smudged marks from the past to write over. He wants me to write the story of my life with Him on a fresh, clean page every day. Why then do I drag my past along with me into a new day?? I have no idea - but now that I realize what I've been doing, I think I'll just follow my Pastor's advice and just - STOP IT!

Yep, I'm going to focus in 2011 on writing on just ONE side of the page - clean, fresh, and able to be anything He and I desire.

2 yrs later LOL

Well, just ran across this blog I started nearly 2 years ago. A lot has happened since then. It has been interesting.

I took about 6 months "off" for myself after Dad died and then in January 2008 I started as a nanny for my neighbor's baby girl, Abby. I watched her for just over a year until January 2009.

Since January I focused my attention on redecorating our home. We've lived in our "new" house now for over 12 years. It was TIME !

We repainted almost all the rooms, added new flooring (tile & carpet) and redid the kitchen. Granite counter tops - yahoo !! We hired a decorator, a dear friend from church, who had all the good ideas and a great sense of color. We basically supplied the cash LOL We just finished the final touches (at least all we can afford to make right now) We didn't buy any new furniture, but we certainly need to.

Now our focus is on FINDING EMPLOYMENT @! Duane lost his job about 6 weeks ago. Although the market is very soft right now, he is finding jobs to apply for and has made a lot of good contacts. We're praying he will find something soon ! If so, then I don't have to look for work - which I'd rather not do. I wouldn't mind something part-time but I'd really hate to have to go back to 40 hours a week plus a commute in Dallas.

To quote from a preacher I heard this week: "I'm Happy - God has everything under control"

What IS next?

What IS next? That seems to be the $64 million dollar question.

My children are grown and I even have 4 grandchildren. My parents have both now passed away. My mom in 2003 and my dad just a few weeks ago at age 91.

I've been out of my carreer for over 5 years taking care of dad. Technology changes so quickly I have no idea how far behind I am.

Do I take the summer off to "recoop" after being a 24/7 caregiver for so long? OR do I need to look for a part-time job to give me something to do?

Do I need something to do??? Don't know.

What's it like to just have all 24 hrs available to choose what YOU want to do? Don't know.

That's just it - I DON'T KNOW

Maybe trying blogging I will find out. Let's hope so.
